Mt. Baker Places Gear & rentals Glacier, WA
Glacier Ski Shop
Rentals for everything — skis, boards, splitboards, snowshoes, and backcountry kit
When guests need gear, this is where we send them. Glacier Ski Shop runs out of two buildings on the highway through Glacier: the log cabin at 9966 Mt Baker Hwy handles rentals and repairs, and the showroom at 9946 handles retail and boot fitting (that side has its own line, (360) 441-6357).
The rental list covers nearly everything you’d point at this mountain: downhill skis, snowboards, telemark and cross-country setups, snowshoes, splitboards, and alpine-touring rigs, plus the backcountry safety kit — shovels, probes, skins, crampons, ice axes. Renting snowshoes here is the easiest way into the routes in our snowshoeing guide.
Sort your gear out here rather than hoping to solve it farther up the road — Glacier is the last town before the ski area.
What rentals cost
Daily rates from their rental page, checked August 31, 2026. Equipment rents by the day, and multi-day rentals work the same way — a late return is charged as another day.
| Rental | Adult | Junior (8–13) | Kids (0–7) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alpine ski package | $59 | $39 | $29 |
| Premium alpine package | $69 | — | — |
| Snowboard package | $59 | $39 | $30 |
| Splitboard package | $89 | — | — |
| Alpine touring w/ skins | $89 | — | — |
| Telemark package | $69 | — | — |
| Cross-country package | $35 | — | $25 |
| Snowshoe package | $35 | — | — |
Backcountry pieces rent à la carte: a backcountry kit at $50, climbing skins $50, shovel and probe $30, crampons $20, ice axe $20, poles $10, backpack $10.
If you’ll be up several weekends, price the season packages instead — $195 to $295 for skis or a board by age tier, $100 to $195 for boots. Six days of rentals is roughly the break-even.
Summer flips the place over: e-bike rentals run Friday through Sunday, and a small ice cream stand sets up in the ski-lined parking lot. As of late August 2026 they were clearing 2025/26 skis, boards, and boots at 20–30% off and running a 26/27 snowboard demo sale, which is the usual signal that winter inventory is landing.
Know before you go
- Two buildings: rentals and repairs at 9966 (the log cabin), showroom and boot work at 9946
- Call the rental shop at (360) 599-1943 before driving up in the off-season — the storefront switches to e-bikes and the posted hours follow that
- Summer e-bike and showroom hours: Fri 2–6, Sat 10–6, Sun 11–4 (verified August 31, 2026)
- They rent gear, not beds — no lodging here, whatever an old directory says
